Tournament update: Anna wins doubles title in Egypt

Anna travelled down to the Egyptian town, Ain Elsokhna, near Suiz by the Red See to compete in two ITF Women’s tournaments. Anna entered into the main draw as the eigth seed and was faced against the Slovakian girl Baranova in the first match where Anna won convincingly 6-1 6-2. In the second round played against the Russian girl Samoylo and won in two straight sets 6-2 6-1. In the Quarter Final, Anna was set to play against the Spanish player Pous-Tio, a former World no. 76 on the WTA Tour, and Anna lost 0-6, 1-6.

The second tournament went off to a good start, defeating Serbian player Selakovic 6-3 6-1 and German player Steinherr 6-3 6-2. Once again, Anna was set to meet Pous-Tio from Spain in the Quarter Final. This time Anna had improved on her game plan and managed to get the former World no. 76 off balance. Anna won the first set 6-2 but lost the second set 5-7 after being 5-2 up. The third set was very tight and Anna was ahead 5-2 even this time but eventually lost the third and final set 7-5.

In the doubles tournament Anna teamed up with her friend Valeria Savinykh from Russia. They were seeded no. 1 and managed to fulfill the expectations by winning the tournament in an exciting Final (3-6 6-3 [10-6]).

Next up for Anna is two ITF Women’s tournaments in Uzbekistan.
