Two tournaments in Austria
Anna Brazhnikova returned to the ITF tournament circuit after two weeks of practice in Stockholm. This time Anna travelled to Austria for two $10,000 womens tournaments in Vienna and Innsbruck.
In the first round Anna defeated #759 ranked Czech girl Jana Jandova in straight sets 6-2 6-4. Next up was Anna Fitzpatrick from Great Britain. Fitzpatrick, a two-year older player from Sheffield and based out of the Monte Carlo Tennis Academy, lost the first set in a tie break 6-7(2). In the second set Anna picked up the pace with a 6-4 win over the former #314 (June 2008).
Brazhnikova faced Ema Burgic in the second round. The Bosnian & Herzegovnian player lost in two sets 6-3 6-2 and Brazhnikova was through to the semi final.
In the semi-final Anna lost out in a tight first set tiebreak 6-7(7) to the Serbian player Zoric. Zoric a #449 ranked player unfortunately gained momentum and won the second set in 2-6. That meant that Anna was out of the tournament and travelled to the next tournament in Innsbruck.

Over the weekend the 64-player Qualifying Draw had been played. Anna has been feeling some pain from a minor stress fracture in Båstad earlier this summer. Going into the first round Anna did not feel 100%. A couple of visits to the physio made some improvements and the left leg felt better.
Anna lost the first set 4-6 to the Croatian player Mezak. Mezak a 183 cm 24 year old player from Zagreb took the second set 1-6 and Annas tournament session in Innsbruck was over.
