
Anna in Amsterdam
Anna travelled with one of the national coaches from the Swedish Tennis Federation and the mood was good in the Brazhnikova camp.
In the first round Anna faced an 18-year old qualifier called Nina Zander. Anna won the first set in a close tiebreak 7-6 (4) but the German fought back and won the second set in a tiebreak 6-7 (2). After that Anna regained her focus and won the third and final set in 6-3.
Anna Brazhnikova was in the top half of the draw and faced local girl Danielle Harmsen. Brazhnikova defeated the 23-year old Dutch player in three sets 4-6 6-4 7-6 (1).
This meant Brazhnikova would face Russian player Avgusta Tsybysheva in the quarter finals. Tsybysheva 21 year old player in two sets. First set Anna won 6-3 and the second set was won by 7-5.
Anna was now up for playing the dutch favorite, Kiki Bertens. Anna started the match in good form, winning the first set 6-1. In the second set Anna was up 3-1 and 40-0. Anna who hadnt performed her best serves this week due to the minor strain on her left side, lost the second set 5-7 after having two match points.
The third set was also a close fight, with Anna at first being down 1-3 and eventually breaking Bertens serve a few times. In the end the Dutch player won 4-6.
