Anna visits the SEB Next Generation tennis camp
On Friday Anna Brazhnikova visited Danderyds Tennis Club where the Swedish Tennis Federation hosted one of their talent camps, the SEB Next Generation Camp.
SEB Next Generation is the Swedish Tennis Federation’s largest youth talent programme ever and it focuses on boys and girls aged 10 to 15 years. The purpose of the youth program is to identify, inspire, promote and support more young tennis talents. This year over 80 camps have been taken place all across Sweden where each club’s best juniors have been invited to get additional training from the federation coaches.
The camp in Danderyd started with Anna attending a question&answer session with the 20 kids, who got to ask Anna one question each. The kids were very enthusiastic and they asked Anna how she prepares for a match, how many times a week she practices tennis, what they should eat before a match and what type of strings she uses.
After the Q&A session the kids got to learn some light warm-up and stretching exercises followed by some dodge ball. Once everyone was warmed up the kids got to split into groups of four and they got to play tennis with Anna. There was some doubles play, some got to play alternate shots with Anna and some played singles matches. Everybody enjoyed themselves and they got some hints on what to do in certain situations.
The kids also got to practice additional tennis techniques with the coaches from the Swedish Federation. After the tennis session everybody gathered around for a final Q&A session and Anna Brazhnikova commented on the day.
- I was great fun to play with all the kids and to help Swedish tennis to find new talents.
