Every morning Anna and Ellen Allgurin practiced together with the national team instructor Johan Hedsberg at the facility where the WTA tournament Estoril Open is played every year in May.
With success in the singles by seven year older, Sofia, and three years older Johanna Sweden won 2-1 against Denmark, 2-1 against Latvia and in the match against Hungary the score was 2-0 to Sweden. At that time the coach, Maria Strandlund-Tomsvik, decided to let Anna play the doubles match with Ellen Allgurin which they won 6-4 6-2.


- It was really fun to play the Fed Cup for the first time! Everybody in the team were really nice and we had a great athmosphere in the team all week. I lived with Johanna and we got to know each other a bit better so that was fun. In the doubles match against Ellen and I played not too bad so it was a nice feeling to have won the match 6-4 6-2, says Anna Brazhnikova.

The play-offs against Austria was won by Sweden 2-0 and are now promoted to the World Group II Play-Offs. The draw was published today and Sweden will play against P.R. China on 24-25 April 2010 in Sweden. Sweden is now in a group consisting of the 20 best nations in the world in the remaining Fed Cup matches.
- Now that Sweden is through to the play-offs it will exciting to see what will happen, says Anna Brazhnikova.

This week Anna Brazhnikova is competing in an ITF womens circuit tournament – the SALK Ladies – in Stockholm. The tournament has gathered a wide selection of experienced international players so it will be a tough week. Anna will face an 8th seed player from Ukraine in the first round. Yesterday Anna played her first doubles match with her doubles partner Marta Sirotkina from Russia 3-6 7-6(4) [10-8]. Draws and results is available at the SALK Ladies website.

Anna Brazhnikova won in her Fed Cup debut
Last weekend Anna Brazhnikova was in Estoril, Portugal, to represent Swedens ladies national team in the Fed Cup. In the group stage Anna and her team mates faced Denmark, Hungary and Latvia. The team consisted of Sofia Arvidsson, Johanna Larsson, Anna Brazhnikova and Ellen Allgurin.
